Friends of the Forest

Ages: 6-8

August 19-22, 2019

9am to 3pm (Mon-Thur)

There is so much to explore in nature! During Friends of the Forest, participants will spend their days exploring the beauty of Trout Lake, from pine forests to wetlands. As summer comes to a close, we'll work with participants to bring their curiosity to life as we learn about all the amazing organism friends in the forest!

Participants can expect to spend their days exploring, playing, imagining, creating, and more in the shade of the forest.

Time: 9am - 3 pm

Ages: 6-8

Dates: Monday, August 19- Thursday, August 22, 2019

Activities: Environmental education, plant identification, hiking, handicrafts, team building, play, nature games

Instructor: Cascade Mountain School Summer Educators

Location: Forest Campus, Mt. Adams Institute, Trout Lake, WA.

Cost: $300 per student plus fee for optional transportation.

Optional Shuttle: There is optional transportation for students from Hood River, OR and Bingen, WA for an additional fee. The payment for the optional shuttle is $12.50/day or $50/week per student.


Erynne van Zee


Erynne is an environmental engineer by training, but an educator at heart. At Cascade Mountain School, she combines her passion for engaging students in creative problem solving through engineering, ecological sciences, and teambuilding. She brings curriculum development and teaching experience for 2nd-5th grade STEAM outreach, as well as college-level environmental justice courses. Drawn to the vibrant communities of the Gorge, Erynne also works part-time as a substitute teacher, plays cello in the Columbia Gorge Sinfonietta, and coaches a Destination Imagination team for 4th graders. A Northwest local, Erynne loves to share experiences while surrounded by beautiful mountains, moss, and towering trees.
